Construction Research 2go: Archival materials – what lies buried beneath the file covers

12:00 PM - 12:30 PM Thu, 05 Nov

Short description

State, local authority, church and even private archives are home to real treasures! Research, examination and analysis of archival records.

Description

The archival materials are diverse and range from deeds, through account books and church registers, to inventories and separate building files. The latter are of particular interest and value to architectural research, as they often contain detailed information about the historical condition of a building. Inventory descriptions, cost estimates for planned renovation works and, above all, the plans, sketches and even photographs produced in this context are valuable sources for understanding the architectural context.
