Schwarzbach Open-Air Museum. Film and interview

3:00 PM - 4:00 PM Thu, 05 Nov

Description

Between 1998 and 2008, six historic buildings from surrounding villages were saved from demolition and relocated to Schwarzbach, situated between Rochlitz and Colditz. The resulting open-air museum has evolved from a traditional exhibition site into a vibrant cultural and educational centre. Since 2022, the concept has been further developed: the focus is on making the oldest building (the Poppitz farmhouse and stable, 1568) usable, reviving traditional crafts (blacksmithing, floristry and marquetry) and preserving and utilising the buildings and their grounds as a socio-cultural meeting place in a rural setting. The Saxony Heritage Network has been a partner in the implementation of these objectives for several years. In the discussion following the film, two members of the association will present an interim review and look ahead to the future.
