We can only achieve the challenging climate goals with the existing building stock: a resource whose gray energy can be used through further development of the existing building stock and intelligent solutions for energetic upgrading.
It will not be enough if we limit ourselves to increasing the energy efficiency of building operations. Rather, we must broaden our perspective fundamentally and come to holistic considerations. For this purpose, many years of experience in measures on monuments provide a wide range of solutions for effective climate protection in the entire building stock and beyond: The extension of the life of buildings and the requirement to minimize intervention are expedient principles of monument preservation. Identity creation of building culture in the sense of socio-cultural sustainability is an indispensable aspect with which we can preserve and further develop our designed environment.
