ARX in Latin refers to the castle. The eponymous journal ARX Burgen und Schlösser in Bayern, Österreich und Südtirol (ARX Castles and Palaces in Bavaria, Austria and South Tyrol) looks at the castle and its history in terms of its architectural, art-historical, historical and cultural significance and from the perspective of preservation (monument conservation, use, tax law, etc.).
ARX has been published twice a year since 1979 and is edited by the South Tyrolean Castle Institute (Südtiroler Burgeninstitut). The Southtyrolean Castles Institute eO was founded in 1963 to claim the public and private duty to preserve castles and to promote their research. The association owns the castles Taufers and Trostburg.
