Building in existing buildings

3:45 PM - 5:15 PM Thu 07. Nov

Description

The Saxon Chambers of Crafts and Trades award the Monument Preservation Prize for exemplary craftsmanship in the preservation of monuments that has been carried out in compliance with the requirements of the monument protection authorities.

The aim of awarding and presenting the Monument Preservation Prize is to make the general public aware of the importance and cultural necessity of preserving the original substance of irretrievable cultural assets as evidence of a completed cultural epoch in such a way that they can be passed on to the next generation in the best possible state of preservation.

The Saxon Monument Preservation Award focuses attention on the role of craftsmanship in monument preservation, as the application, preservation and passing on of historical craftsmanship techniques and traditional expertise is just as important as the preservation of our rich Saxon monument landscape itself.

The award ceremony honors the top achievements of active craft businesses, which in practice manage the balancing act between meeting the challenges of monument preservation in harmony with modern building and usage requirements.

Private monument owners should be made aware of the quality and efficiency of craftsmen's businesses in monument conservation and be put in a position to demand this quality.

Craftsmen should be made aware of the diverse and in every way rewarding field of monument conservation and be motivated to qualify for monument conservation tasks at the specially established craft training centers.
