Prof. Dr. Karin Berkemann
Vita
Prof. Dr Karin Berkemann holds a degree in theology and is an art historian; she has also completed the specialist training programme ‘Architect in Heritage Conservation’. Following her PhD and habilitation on topics relating to non-ecclesiastical cultural heritage, she worked at the Hessian State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments and, until 2025, was affiliated with the Dalman Institute at the University of Greifswald and served as a private lecturer at TU Dortmund University. Today, she holds the Chair of Heritage Conservation and Architectural History at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Dessau, works as a freelance building researcher and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the German Foundation for Monument Protection.
