Dr. phil. Lorena Pethig

Vita

Dr. phil. Lorena Pethig studied art history, medieval and modern history, and English language and literature at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, where she was awarded a PhD in art history in 2010. She then completed a research traineeship at the Hessian State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments in Wiesbaden, which lasted until 2012. She subsequently worked as a conservator at the Heritage Office of the City of Frankfurt am Main. Since 2022, she has been working as an inventory officer at the State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments and Archaeology in Bremen.

Young Love - A New Perspective on Postmodernism and Post-Reunification Modernism

It is argued that the architecture from the 1980s to 2000s is gaining recognition for its historical importance, prompting discussions about its preservation. During a panel experts will explore the uniqueness of post-modernism and post-reunification modernism, questioning whether different preservation strategies are required for these newer buildings as demolition rates increase.
