denkmal international… exhibitor highlights
Conserving cultural heritage is – of course – a quite international business. The denkmal trade fair reflects this with its around 360 exhibitors of which 15 per cent are coming from countries outside Germany. Let us introduce you to some of our exhibitors, whose way to Leipzig crosses borders. They come from neighboring countries such as Czech Republic or Switzerland, as well as from countries that are far more away such as China. Get to know what they have in store for Leipzig.

denkmal international...: Zouhair Bennani on Morocco's presence at the fair
Morocco will be the first African country ever to be represented at denkmal this year. The leading European trade fair for preservation, restoration and old building renovation will thus become even more international. Zouhair Bennani, who is also Deputy Secretary General of ICOMOS MAROC, is in charge of planning the Moroccan joint stand. We spoke to him about the importance of denkmal and Morocco's participation. In the interview, Bennani also explains why participation in the trade fair is so important, especially after the devastating earthquake of 2023.

denkmal builds...: Sustainable timber framing in the Naturdorf Bärnau
Sustainable construction using pre-industrial techniques and regional resources - the Naturdorf Bärnau wants to show how this can be achieved. Four experimental buildings are being constructed here for tourist purposes. Most of the work is being carried out by journeymen, who will take the knowledge gained in Bärnau with them for their future careers. The aim is to rethink building culture and architectural language - in favour of less industrial solutions and more craftsmanship.

Trade fairs are a meeting place - this is especially true at denkmal in the context of the international networking and matchmaking exchange CONTACT. This is where companies, experts and institutions from the fields of heritage conservation and restoration come together to network, exchange experiences and find potential co-operation partners. CONTACT is organised together with the Handwerkskammer zu Leipzig and Dresden. We spoke to Antje Barthauer, Foreign Trade Consultant and Export Scout at the Handwerkskammer zu Leipzig, about the platform and its importance, particularly for smaller companies in the heritage conservation sector.

denkmal wishes luck ...: At the EuroSkills 2023 in Gdansk!
denkmal congratulates Jonas Lauhoff from Thuringia on his impressive success as European champion in the carpentry trade at EuroSkills 2023. 576 skilled workers from 32 countries competed in 42 trades at the international event. The German national carpentry team, supported by Holzbau Deutschland, is thus continuing its impressive success story.

denkmal celebrates ...: 30 years of the German Society for Protection of Cultural Property
The German Society for Protection of Cultural Property (DGKS) is a non-profit association that has been dedicated to the protection of cultural property in crisis and emergency situations since 1993. The association believes that the protection of cultural property, minorities and the environment are not tasks for the state alone, but also require voluntary commitment. At the end of August, the anniversary conference of the association took place in Grimma under the motto "From retrospect to the future" - and the denkmal team was also there! Today, the chairwoman of the association, Irene Pamer-Gatzsche, reports in an interview on 30 years of dedicated association work and explains why the protection of cultural assets absolutely requires voluntary commitment.
