Ready for the Future – Climate Adaptation in Museums. Presentation of the pilot project

The pilot project, initiated by the Baden-Württemberg State Office for Museums and carried out by the think-and-do-tank adelphi in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics IBP, supported six museums in developing their climate adaptation strategies. Over the course of the project, the museums – two open-air museums and four inner-city institutions – were empowered by the team of experts to analyse their own facilities and identify suitable climate adaptation measures, using the worksheets provided and expert input. The methodology adopted in the project, as well as the worksheets issued to the museums, were published by the State Office for Museums in early November and are now freely available. The presentation will shed light on both the pilot project and the recently published methodology.

The participating organisations were the German Butchers’ Museum in partnership with the Böblingen Peasants’ War Museum, the Neuhausen op Eck Open-Air Museum, the Vogtsbauernhof Gutach Open-Air Museum, the Pforzheim Gallery, the Kurpfälzisches Museum in Heidelberg and the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen.
