Naumburg World Heritage Centre – Where history meets engaging interpretation

The Naumburg World Heritage Centre opened in August. The firm Hartkopf denk mal architektur was responsible for the refurbishment of the former bishop’s curia. Our firm developed the interior design and the exhibition within the historic building and oversaw its implementation right up to the opening. The particular challenge lay in carefully integrating fittings, furniture and lighting into the historic context, whilst at the same time conveying the concept of World Heritage in a way that is spatial, sensory and accessible to all. A notable outcome of this collaboration is a tapestry developed specifically for the foyer of the Bishop’s Curia, which we designed in collaboration with a textile designer from Leipzig.
