• Apprenticeship as a carpenter, followed by a traditional journeyman’s tour • Work in the field of reconstruction and heritage conservation, as well as further training in restoration work • Studied civil engineering, specialising in building construction and building renovation, at HTWK Leipzig • Since 2006, research assistant at the Institute for Diagnostics and Conservation of Monuments (IDK) • Areas of specialisation: building climate, building physics, structural engineering and preventive conservation • Regular teaching engagements at the HfBK Dresden and the HTW Berlin
