Climate-Positive Buildings and Neighbourhoods in Historic Building Stock: The Example of Hamburg’s Speicherstadt

4:45 PM - 5:15 PM Thu, 05 Nov

Short description

How can historic buildings and entire neighbourhoods be designed to be climate-neutral or even climate-positive? Using the example of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hamburg’s Speicherstadt, this talk presents a holistic approach to sustainable energy supply concepts for historic buildings.
The focus is on the needs-based energy retrofitting of the building envelope, the use of locally available renewable energy sources, and the deployment of solar-hybrid roof systems, heat pumps and innovative heat storage solutions. Furthermore, the presentation will demonstrate how digital connectivity and the intelligent operational optimisation of technical components can contribute to a sustainable energy supply at neighbourhood level.
